Premier League giants Chelsea are said to have missed out on a transfer target this summer.

The Blues are said to have failed with a late attempt to sign Marco Verratti from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Italian midfielder spent the past 11 years in the French capital, but has now all but left for Qatar.

He has agreed personal terms with Al-Arabi ahead of a 38 million transfer, per Fabrizio Romano.

L'Equipe adds that Chelsea were hoping they would be able to lure Verratti to the Premier League.

However, Verratti appears to be content with moving to Qatar at this stage of his career.
