Felipe Anderson will leave Lazio at the end of the season to join Palmeiras on a free transfer.

Despite various conversations with Club President Claudio Lotito and being offered a new five-year contract, it was not enough to convince the Brazilian veteran to stay in Rome, with the main reason being his desire to return to his home country. Below are the comments made through his Instagram Stories.

Out of respect for Lazio and its fans who always supported me, I confirm that I have not reached an agreement to renew my contract with the club and I will therefore follow a new path next season.

I always proved my professionalism and my commitment to Lazio, so I can assure you that I will continue to dedicate myself to honouring this jersey until the very last day of my contract. Thank you for everything!

It was widely speculated that Juventus were ready to snatch the 31-year-old, offering a shorter-term deal at the same salary; however, in a surprising turn of events, Brazilian side Palmeiras published an official statement out of the blue, announcing that Felipe Anderson had indeed signed a contract with them that will become active on July 1, 2024, until December 31, 2027. Below is the official communication.

Palmeiras agreed on Monday (15) the signing of attacking midfielder Felipe Anderson, who has been playing in European football for 11 seasons and currently plays for Lazio-ITA. The versatile player, who turns 31 today, signed a pre-contract with Verdão and will reinforce the Greatest Champion of Brazil from July, after the opening of the international transfer window – his link with Alviverde will begin on July 1 and will be valid until December 31, 2027.

Therefore, after a second spell at Lazio, Felipe Anderson will officially leave the club for good, returning home to Brazil. This season, he has contributed with five goals and seven assists in 44 appearances across all competitions; he re-joined the Biancocelesti back in 2021 following a difficult stint abroad in England with West Ham and Portugal with Porto.
