In an utterly disgusting clip, a ‘fan’ appears to spit at Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks ahead of their clash with Leyton Orient yesterday afternoon.

Winks was once considered a key player at Spurs, as well as being a mainstay in the England squad, but the 25-year-old has looked a shadow of his former self over the past 18 months or so.

Still, that’s no excuse for spitting at him, as one fan – of which club is not clear – was filmed doing as he arrived at Brisbane Road to take on Leyton Orient yesterday afternoon.

Winks did not appear to realise that he’d been spat at, but it’s clear as day in the video.

Even before the pandemic began, this sort of behaviour will still have been totally unacceptable.

The offender’s face is not visible in the clip, so it’d probably be difficult to identify him, but if someone who was present witnessed the incident, they really ought to come forward.
