Villarreal goalkeeper Pepe Reina has urged the players to rally behind coach Pacheta after victory over Maccabi Haifa.

Villarreal won their Europa League encounter 2-1 to ease pressure on the coach.

Reina later said: "It hurts me because the 'mister' is in question and many things are being heard. But I am going to something deeper, I know the person he is, how he prepares the games, how he tries and we all have to help him more. I am indebted to him, we have to stop pointing fingers at others and improve each one."

The goalkeeper went further when referring to the possible change of coach: "It is a reality, if the players do not criticise themselves, coaches will pass and that is not the solution. Each one has to give something more and help. It is to be alert and Let everyone examine their conscience. The coach tries and we are very much with him. I feel an affinity for what he transmits, because it is heavy in each training session, but it is in the hands of the players and some are below their level and that is not acceptable. It's as simple as that."

In the same way, he asked his teammates for personality to improve the situation: "We talked about it from the beginning, it is not a problem of one coach or another. In this situation it costs more, but if we are afraid of failing, it is better to go home.

"We have to have personality, give value to this and know that the mistake is part of football. We are aware and we are the first who want to reverse it. We must face Sunday's game as a final, but without fear and enjoy it. We must not be distressed because when you overcome these moments you come out very strengthened."
