It’s coming to the point in the season when fates are decided and the future becomes much clearer for many clubs and players.

As we approach another transfer window and the end of the season, players will be speaking with their agents and clubs and decided what move to make next, if any at all. And in this case, relegation will probably be detrimental in the final decision.

Romeo Lavia has just been relegated with Southampton, and you’d be very surprised if he doesn’t now look to leave the club. Chelsea are interested, that has been heavily reported and has once again been reiterated this morning by Hampshire Live.

Lavia has been speaking to the media and he is full of praise for The Saints, but his comments also do not sound like someone who is going to be sticking around next season.

Lavia said: “First of all, I’m really, really grateful that Southampton gave me the chance to have my first step in professional football, and, looking back, I’m really happy to have made this step here. I’ve enjoyed it so far.

“I’ve learned so much about the club, and honestly I feel like part of a family, because I know most of the people around the building, and you just want to give back to them for everything they do for you during the week, and the whole year really, so that gives me motivation to give my all for the rest of the season.”

Chelsea will face competition though if they want to sign him.
