Chelsea kid Cesare Casadei has been the star of the U20 World Cup so far, and Blues fans who can’t bear to see their own team in action can at least enjoy seeing him tearing it up in Argentina for Italy.

The kid is now the top scorer in the competition with 4 goals. But these highlights show he’s more than just a goalscorer – he can pass and he can move with the ball too.

We haven’t seen much of the defensive side of his game, but he’s certainly big enough to make an impact there too. As some in the comments pointed out, he has some “Declan Rice vibes” to his game, with good height and composure and a useful if slightly inelegant drive forward with the ball at his feet. Some of the more generous commenters even made Michael Ballack comparisons.

We would imagine he is being lined up for another loan next season, likely back to the Championship where he can be guaranteed good minutes. He looks levels about the rest of the players in this tournament, and ready to take the step up in the club game.
