It’s no secret that Manuel Neuer is the best goalkeeper in football with the ball at his feet, but what he did today was just taking the mick.

Neuer revolutionised the goalkeeper role with his extraordinary ability to play the ball out from the back with his feet. He’d do a job in midfield, and that’s not even tongue in cheek.

We’ve also seen Neuer, time and time again, flying off his line to clear a loose ball. He’s the original sweeper keeper and there’s nobody better in the game at doing those duties.

In case you forgot what Neuer was capable of, outside of his world-class goalkeeping abilities, he gave us all a rather entertaining reminder this afternoon.

Neuer chased the loose ball on the edge of the box, flicked the ball over the head of the on-rushing attacker and gratefully grasped the ball in his hands upon returning to his penalty area.

This is vintage Manuel Neuer. You love to see it…
