Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League elimination at the hands of Real Madrid remains at the top of everyone’s mind and during his news conference with the media, manager Mauricio Pochettino spoke with the media, where he was asked about Marquinhos.

The 27-year-old had a forgettable night at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, having an error led to a goal. As a captain, he could not rile up his teammates as the situation was falling apart, leading to the 3-2 loss on aggregate.

“The disappointment is collective. The responsibility rests primarily with the coach and with the other parties that make up the club. Marquinhos is a very great player who has had a strong relationship with the club for several years. He earned his reputation through his performances,” Pochettino said.

“He is a different leader from those who could be in the past. He is by example, thanks to his daily commitment, and this, without a doubt. If we judge him solely on what happened in the last few minutes, I don’t think that’s the right thing to do.”
