It has been a very positive day for AC Milan’s Italy youth internationals, with two of them getting on the scoresheet this afternoon.

In Finland, the Italy U17 national team faced the Netherlands and the Azzurrini won 2-0 against the Dutch thanks to goals from Ciardi (from a penalty won by Francesco Camarda) and Milan star Mattia Liberali.

Among the Italian youth players called up for this international break there are five Milan players: Longoni (goalkeeper born in 2008), Cappelletti (right back born in 2007), Liberali (attacking midfielder born in 2007), Sala (midfielder born in 2007, now confirmed in the Primavera for some time) and Camarda.

Longoni, Liberali and Camarda lined up as starters and it was the latter that created quite a few problems for the Oranje defence during the match. In addition to earning the penalty for Italy’s opener in the 27th minute by Ciardi, he was the author of numerous chances.

Liberali meanwhile had an up and down game (or rather down then up). Despite being the scorer of the goal to make 2-0, in the first half he had a double opportunity first with his left foot (blocked) and then with his right foot (down the middle).

The Rossoneri attacking midfielder also hit the post in the first half of the match and wasted many good opportunities overall, the most blatant coming in the 80th minute when he let the Dutch goalkeeper steal the ball in the penalty area.

In the 72nd minute Sala and Cappelletti also entered the field. The latter became the protagonist in the 83rd minute by putting a lovely ball into the area for Camarda, who however failed to direct it on target.

Meanwhile, Primavera captain Kevin Zeroli played for Italy’s U19s against Scotland and he got the opening goal of the game, taking advantage of a rebound after the goalkeeper saved Pafundi’s shot initially.

As a reminder, Milan are reportedly close to being able to announce the renewal of Zeroli, at least according to the latest from Fabrizio Romano.
