Raheem Sterling comes to Chelsea as one of the most senior and experienced players, and that’s clear from the way he speaks about the club’s dodgy preseason form.

He said it was “up and down,” but added that preseason is “not real” and that he had been impressed by the “energy and unity” he had seen since coming back to Cobham for the first time.

Let’s hope there’s a lot of truth to that, and that the American tour was just a blip as the coach had said previously.
