Since the recent departure of Graham Potter, many names have been connected with the open Chelsea manager position. One of those is Luis Enrique, the former Barcelona and Spain boss.
Chelsea already have a connection to the Spaniard by way of their captain Cesar Azpilicueta, who played under Enrique for Spain at the most recent World Cup.
The defender was recently asked for his thoughts regarding the possibility of Enrique taking over at Stamford Bridge.
He stated that that is not something that he handles or has any input for but also made sure to remind reporters that he believes his best performances for Spain came under Enrique.
'There are parts [of the club] who negotiate, that we trust with doing what is best for the club. We will see what happens. My best games with the national team were with Luis Enrique as coach.'
Enrique is an intriguing option for the Blues, given his success domestically at Barcelona. A decision is not imminent but it can be expected that he will be considered heavily throughout the process.
One positive that would come from appointing Enrique is the fact he is currently without a club, meaning Chelsea will not have to pay exorbitant fees to a club for his services as they had to with Graham Potter.
