Paris Saint-Germain defender Milan Skriniar is a few months removed from officially leaving Inter Milan as a free agent to sign with the French giants this past summer.
Since arriving in Paris, the Slovakian center-back has been a pillar for the squad. PSG’s gain was Inter Milan’s loss, and recently, the Serie A club’s CEO, Beppe Marotta, spoke about what led to the 28-year-old’s exit and where things went wrong.
“There were some differences, some difficulties between him and Inter,” Marotta said (h/t Football Italia). “This led to the breakdown of the relationship of friendship and belonging that existed between us. Our paths diverged; he went to Paris, and we went forward without him. And I would say good.”
Although Skriniar has become a crucial part of PSG’s defense, there’s criticism of him for how he’s played with the Ligue 1 side so far. Last month, a former player noted that he’s not seeing the same player as he did when Skriniar was at Inter Milan.
Nonetheless, Skriniar is content with his decision to join the Parisians. The former Inter Milan defender signed a five-year contract with PSG and will be part of this new project under manager Luis Enrique and sporting advisor Luis Campos for the foreseeable future.
