Lazio talisman Ciro Immobile is still working on recovering from a hamstring injury but could see action before the World Cup break next month.

The 32-year-old Italian striker suffered the hamstring issue in the 29th minute of the 0-0 draw with Udinese earlier this month, forcing him to miss the last two matches against Atalanta and FC Midtjylland. Lazio responded well on the pitch, picking up two wins in two without their skipper.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Immobile will undergo a new round of medical tests on Monday next week, but initial signs are positive for the Lazio captain.

Yesterday the 32-year-old started working on an exercise bike, a small step forward, and he’s desperate to return to the pitch as soon as possible.

The dream is to have Immobile fit for the Derby della Capitale against Roma on 6th November, but it’s more likely that he’ll return for the game against Juventus on 13th November, the last match before Serie A takes a break for the World Cup in Qatar.

After the tests on Monday, Immobile will enter the second phase of his recovery, focused on specific physio-therapeutic methods. It’s still too early for the 32-year-old to start training on the pitch again and the club don’t want to take any risks with his recovery.
