A report in the Italian press tips Inter Milan midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan to play an instrumental role in the Derby della Madonnina clash.

The Nerazzurri will be looking to clinch the Scudetto title on Monday with what would be a historic victory over AC Milan.

The last time the two sides met, Simone Inzaghi’s men prevailed with a shocking 5-1 win. Mkhitaryan was the ultimate star of the show, scoring a brace while also providing Davide Frattesi with an assist.

So according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInter1908, the Armenian will once again have a key role to play.

As the pink newspaper explains, Simone Inzaghi will be looking to pile the pressure on the Rossoneri from the get-go.

Inter Milan Midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan To Play Pivotal Role In Derby Clash Vs AC Milan

The 48-year-old recognizes a certain weakness in Stefano Pioli’s side. While Milan have excellent technical players among their ranks, they tend to drop their pace at times.

Therefore, Inzaghi is looking to implement a fast rhythm that can take the Diavolo off their game. He will try to suffocate his opponents, depriving them of time and space to maneuver.

In this regard, Mkhitaryan will be pivotal, as he’s the master of transitioning the play, something that has become synonymous with Inter.

While this aspect seemed missing in Inter’s most recent outings, the source expects the Derby fever to reignite the fire within the souls of the Nerazzurri stars.

Curiously, the 35-year-old didn’t score any goals this season, besides his brace from the reverse fixture. Nevertheless, he provides his teammates with 10 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.
