Paris Saint-Germain defender Lucas Hernandez recently spoke with Le Parisien in an in-depth interview. The Frenchman discussed many topics, one of which was Ousmane Dembélé.

The 27-year-old defender notes why it was important for the capital club to pursue a player like Dembélé and bring him over from FC Barcelona. Hernandez notes that the off-the-pitch qualities that the 26-year-old brings are essential to the squad.

“Ousmane Dembélé, I have known him since French U-21s,” Hernandez told the French media outlet. “He’s a great guy who is always happy, and it’s very important to have that type of personality in a locker room.”

Dembélé spoke with L’Equipe about his production as he transitions from the Catalan side to PSG. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner likely appreciates the qualities he brings off the pitch. Nonetheless, he probably knows that the Ligue 1 side and his teammates expect production from him.

The winger isn’t too worried about the criticisms people might have over his statistical output so far for PSG. Still, he gives off this confidence, knowing that the goals and more assists will come.

If PSG wants to advance into the knockout stage and make a deep UEFA Champions League run, they’ll need Dembélé and Hernandez playing at an elite level.
