For anyone 30+ years of age will remember Manchester United‘s dominance in the Premier League, Red Devil fans laughed at Liverpool for when it took them 20+ years to win a league title. The Old Trafford club are coming up on ten years next year when they last won it, under their legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013, his final year in charge.

It’s near the end of June now and Manchester United are still yet to make a signing. The Red Devils did come close to signing Christian Eriksen. But the fact Eriksen is undecided over whether to remain in London or relocate to Manchester, to be part of the new era under Erik ten Hag, sums up United’s spectacular fall from grace.

Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard have already hit the road or set packing by the club after being surplus to requirements. Paul Pogba was really a very disappointing one for the fans, after his big money move back to the club in 2016.

Now to make matters worse their best player last season Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly considering leaving the club due to their lack of activity in the transfer market. Will he leave? Check out the Casino Hawks here

Erik ten Hag will be working with a squad that grossly underperformed last term and will be operating in the Europa League as a result of a sixth place finish.

Recruitment and retention are going to be key as the club look to spend in an attempt to close the gap on the Premier League’s elite. Despite bringing in star names last summer United are still desperately short in several areas and need to make additions if they are to be competitive.

The former Manchester United Defender and now Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has outlined what the Red Devils should be looking for “Manchester United need midfield players. They also need a centre-forward. I know Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to stay and he’s an absolutely brilliant performer, but they need a centre-forward. Centre-forward is a must.

“I think there’ll need to be a wide player, just to beef up the squad, and I think full-backs are absolutely critical in the modern game. [There are] four full-backs there, it’ll be interesting to see which two, three or four of those are liked.”

Good luck United fans, because you’ll need it, it’s a long, long way back for the Red Devils until their at the level they want to be at again..
