With the January transfer window closed who could Manchester City target this summer? While it is a few months away Txiki Begiristain and co will be making plans to strengthen Pep Guardiola’s squad. With that in mind here’s a look at who Manchester City could target this summer.

Joshua Kimmich

Sam Lee reported for the Athletic that Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich may be a summer target for Manchester City.

The German international ticks a lot of boxes as an ideal addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad. With his ability to play in midfield as a backup to Rodri or at right-back, he could be the ideal summer signing for the European champions.

Kimmich has the quality to improve the Manchester City squad and it appears it may be one transfer story to watch for this summer.

Florian Wirtz

Farrell Keeling has previously reported for caughtoffside.com of Manchester City’s interest in the star Bayer Leverkusen midfielder. Keeling relays a report from transfer expert Christian Falk that Pep Guardiola is a huge fan of the young German international.

Darren Looney also relayed a report from German publication BILD for caughtoffside.com that indicates that City would face competition for Wirtz. Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also reported to be monitoring the youngster.

If Florian Wirtz does become available this summer Manchester City would be at the front of the queue for his signature. Given his age and prodigious talent, he seems an ideal target for the European champions. He could also be the long-term replacement for Kevin De Bruyne such is the quality of Wirtz.

Jamal Musiala

Another German international Jamal Musiala has also been linked to City. Pete O’Rourke reported for footballinsider247.com of the treble winner’s interest in the Bayern Munich star.

Musiala could be the perfect player to add to the City squad. His playing style appears to make him the perfect addition to the champion’s squad. Musiala has immense talent and could potentially fulfil multiple roles for Pep Guardiola.

However, it is rare to see German players depart Bayern Munich. If Musiala does decide to seek a new challenge Manchester City may be the ideal destination for the youngster.

Savio

Another player who has been heavily linked to Manchester City is Girona winger Savio. The Brazilian has starred for the La Liga surprise packets this campaign. Sam Lee reports for the Athletic that Savio is a target for City this summer.

With the winger being owned by CFG club Troyes, it does appear a simple deal for City to seal.

It will be interesting to see if Savio can finish this season strongly. If he does it would appear to make a move to Manchester City a formality for the winger.

Summary

It appears that a busy summer window looms for Manchester City. After a quiet January window, the world champions may be big players in the summer market.

Given the quality of players linked to the club, it could be an exciting summer transfer window ahead in a few months.
