Robert Lewandowski has revealed that he laughed when Jurgen Klopp asked him to join Liverpool back in 2017.

The Polish striker is considered one of the greatest strikers of all time and is currently playing for La Liga giants, Barcelona.

The 34-year-old has been crucial in the Catalan’s title charge, netting an astounding 27 goals in 34 appearances so far this season.

Lewandowski made the move last summer from Bayern Munich but it could have been so different, as he has revealed that before joining Bayern he was given the option of moving to Liverpool.

“We hosted Liverpool FC with Bayern in the Audi Cup in Munich in 2017,” Lewandowski told BILD.

“We spoke on that occasion. Klopp asked me, ‘Don’t you want to come to Liverpool?’ We looked at each other, then I laughed.

“I don’t know if he was totally serious. But going to Liverpool was never in my mind.”
