World Cup 2022 Group B betting guide

Any group with England in it is bound to have a lot of eyes on it. Throw in the United States and there is a lot of intrigue for sure. A lot of very good teams too.

There is no doubt that England is the best club in the group. Team USA has a high ceiling of being able to compete with anyone globally, but also lots of disappointment. They just never seem to get the roster or the tactics right.

Wales? Well, they punch a lot above their weight given their population.

Group B

  • England
  • Iran
  • USA
  • Wales

The Favorite

England: -300 to win the group, -1400 to qualify

I am not going to bore you with stories about how long it has been since England won the World Cup. However, this young team feels like it could give them a reasonable chance to break that streak. Their players are emerging and that has a different feel from the past.

OddsChecker World Cup futures

Our friends at OddsChecker dig deep into the FIFA Soccer World Cup. Lear Locks found a future bet that should be the easiest cash of the tournament. Belgium is the second-ranked team in FIFA right now and only -150 to win their group. This value is really amazing for this talented Belgium squad.

There is not a lot of value with the UK until they get to the knockout stage.

Contenders

USA: +550 to win the group, +100 to qualify
Wales: +600 to win the group, +110 to qualify

The USMNT is talked about way more than it should be given its historical success. This team is ranked 16th n the FIFA rankings and do not appear to be heading into the Tournament with a lot of positivity.

Wales is just a smidge behind them at 19th. They probably have the most recognizable face in the group in Gareth Bale. He is on the downside of his career though and playing in the MLS now, after a career with some of Europe's top clubs.

This is the first match of the Group stage for both teams. The winner probably qualifies and could be a sleeper to take the group. You might lose some value after that result, but that might be worth a sprinkle.

I am leaning slightly toward the US.

Pretender

Iran: +1600 to win the group, +350 to qualify

I have to admit I did not expect to see Iran at 20th in the FIFA rankings. The odds show that there is a pretty big gap between them and Wales though. They might lose all of their games but maybe they wear out one of the other teams and force them into an unexpected result. Just one draw could influence the results significantly.
