World Cup 2022 Group D betting guide

France is one of the best clubs in the world and the defending World Cup champs. They are not expected to get much resistance at this stage of the event.

Another European club, Denmark, also looks very good to qualify too because the other couple of teams in the Group are light.

The Socceroos (Australia) have a great name and usually compete hard, but the Aussies rarely do well at the elite level and Tunisia has no pedigree.

Group D

  • Australia
  • Denmark
  • France
  • Tunisia

The Favorite

France: -250 to win group, -1000 to qualify.

France is one of the favorites to win the whole thing. Players like Antoine Griezmann and Karim Benzema are very familiar to those who watch a lot of club soccer.

They are actually a good value at -250 because it is really hard to see them dropping a game, not even a draw.

The Contender

Denmark: +275 to win group, -300 to qualify.

The Danes get 2 easy matches against the teams below, which is why their odds to qualify are what they are. I would be surprised if they don't finish the group stage 2-1. This is an easy group.

The Pretenders

Australia: +1400 to win the group, +300 to qualify
Tunisia: +1600 to win the group, +375 to qualify

I thought Australia would get a little more respect but there is a big difference between being popular and being good. They likely beat Tunisia though.

Tunisia brings up the rear and is part of the argument for an expanded field. They should not really take a spot away from a Euro or South American team that has a harder time qualifying due to geography.
