Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti commented on a few hot-button topics regarding his side during an event of his charity Fondazione Pupi (via FCInter1908).

“Simone Inzaghi himself said that he’s great in our family. We formed a nice group with the directors, the staff, the players, and the fans. There’s great empathy and an important working culture. There’s planning and strategy. We created it and gave it continuity, and the results are arriving.”

Zanetti was quizzed about the future of Lautaro Martinez.

“I’m very happy for him. When we signed him, we hoped he could reach this level. He has a great sense of belonging and is a reference point for many. He’s our captain and proves how much he cares about us. I’m serene. He’s super happy with us.”

Inter could perhaps lift the Scudetto in the Derby with Milan in late April, but Zanetti pumped the brakes.

“We don’t make calculations. We’re thinking about Bologna and not about that moment, which will hopefully arrive as soon as possible. We’re focused on our path, which has been very positive. Our advantage is indeed sizeable, but we only care about the next game.”

Zanetti previewed the return leg against Atletico Madrid.

“I didn’t reach out to Cholo Simeone, but, knowing him, I expect something similar to the first match. It won’t be easy against a strong opponent. We can measure up. We hope to be able to secure the qualification.”
