Bayern Munich takes field with 'Black Lives Matter' T-shirts

Athletes in the United States aren't the only ones supporting the Black Lives Matter movement to end racial injustice and police brutality. Bundesliga players in Germany have been honoring George Floyd in matches, and now Bayern Munich players have taken a stand as a team.

Before the club's match against Leverkusen on Saturday, all players took the field for warmups in "Black Lives Matter" T-shirts in solidarity with the movement and to honor Floyd.

Bayern Munich was following the acts of Schalke's Weston McKennie, who wore a "Justice for George" armband during last week's match against Werder Bremen; Borussia Monchengladbach's Marcus Thuram, who took a knee after scoring a goal against Union Berlin; and Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho, who ripped off his shirt after scoring to reveal an undershirt with the message "Justice for George Floyd."

All of these actions were in response to the death of Floyd, 46, who died Monday after being violently seized by Minneapolis police. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Chauvin was arrested Friday and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter as a result of the incident. On June 3, Chauvin's charge was upgraded to second-degree murder, and three other now-former officers who were on the scene are facing charges.
