Celtic Fan Media Conference – Kyogo Furuhashi’s First Impressions of Scottish Football

The Celtic Fan Media yesterday spoke to new Celtic signing Kyogo Furuhashi. Unlike the mainstream media conference Celtic did not add subtitles to the Fan Media version, so you’ll hear the (edited) questions, Kyogo’s answers in his native tongue and then translator giving us the response in English.

The Celtic Star asked Kyogo Furuhashi about his first impressions of Scottish football and also about one particular tackle in that game but sadly that last bit isn’t included. A few of the bigger Celtic sites have already dropped out of this process, struggling to see the value and one describing it as a box ticking exercise for Celtic re fan engagement.

Here’s the fan media conference, followed by the version the club put out last night. The Celtic Fan Media for technical reasons were prevented from recording this conference by Celtic as the club stated that the would add subtitles, we were told that this could take some time and we might not get this until this morning, as indeed was the case. However there are no sub-titles at all, these were added to the mainstream media version and this was successfully released yesterday. This probably took longer than expected and obviously further delay renders the video as much less news-worthy.

It’s early days for the interaction between the club and the Celtic fan media, these technical frustrations aside, there remains lessons to be learned on both sides. Would be interested in hearing your thoughts on this Fan media engagement so far…
