Chelsea’s first team recruitment this summer has been limited, with just two senior players arriving, but they’re moving ruthlessly to secure teenage talent from all over.

After yesterday announcing a stunning transfer for Carney Chukwuemeka, as well as the purchase of teenage goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina from Chicago Fire and Arsenal winger Omari Hutchinson, one might think that they’re topped up their youth ranks already. But Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard is going strong on the story that there’s at least one more to come.

He writes that Chelsea want midfielder Cesare Casadei of Inter, who has been “extensively scouted” by head of youth development Neil Bath.

The 19 year old doesn’t have a senior appearance yet, but is considered an excellent talent, and Kinsella estimates he could cost something similar to the £20m we paid for Chukwuemeka.

With 10 Italy U19 caps already he’s clearly doing something right, and this will be the season he gets his senior breakthrough, whether that’s at Inter, Chelsea, or elsewhere.
