Former Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck spent over a decade associated with the club.
He progressed through the academy and becoming part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s final Premier League-winning squad.
The forward made more than 140 appearances for United across all competitions.
He scored important goals during spells under Ferguson and David Moyes before eventually leaving Old Trafford in 2014.
Manchester United now prepare to face Brighton in the final Premier League game of the season.
However, one familiar former player could once again prove to be a major talking point.
Michael Carrick has already confirmed that Casemiro will not feature at the Amex Stadium.
The Brazilian officially played his final game for the club against Nottingham Forest last weekend.
Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has now hinted that Welbeck could be involved on Sunday.
It could become a historic afternoon for the former United forward.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference on the Brighton official website, Hurzeler praised Welbeck’s professionalism.
He revealed that the striker is in line to make his 400th Premier League appearance against Manchester United.
The Brighton boss said Welbeck’s longevity is a sign of his “daily work ethic” and called him a role model for younger players.
Hurzeler also highlighted the experienced striker’s impressive recent form.
The German coach admitted the veteran forward has continued improving despite his age.
He pointed towards his performances over the last two seasons as proof.
Danny Welbeck has enjoyed another strong campaign for Brighton this season and was recently named the club’s Players’ Player of the Season.
Interestingly, Hurzeler also admitted Brighton supporters have joked about simply “giving the ball to Pascal Gross” against Manchester United due to the midfielder’s strong record against the club.
United have already secured Champions League qualification heading into the weekend fixture, while Brighton are still battling for European football.
All eyes will now be on Welbeck.
The former Manchester United academy graduate could reach a historic Premier League milestone against his former club.
