Mbappé has seen PSG win without him and Ousmane Dembélé lift the Ballon d’Or. With that in his mind, Boulleau believes that these aspects are the driving force for his impressive start to the 2025-26 season in which he’s scored 16 goals in 13 games across all competitions.

“I remain convinced that he did some self-reflecting,” Boulleau said (h/t Le10Sport). “And I’m glad, because he’s a player I really like. It happened during the offseason — not necessarily because he lost weight at the Club World Cup, but I think feeling left out of the group of the world’s best players must have stung him so much that he had to question himself, make changes, and get back to doing what he does best. But his attitude on the pitch isn’t the same anymore either.”

“He’s putting in more effort, making sharper runs, more off-the-ball movements — things he had completely stopped doing. I love the energy he gives off, it’s crazy. His body language isn’t at all the same as it was last season at Real Madrid or with the French national team. It’s not the same Mbappé anymore; it feels like we’ve found the Mbappé who used to shine so brightly, and I hope it lasts. I imagine that seeing PSG win after he left must have stung a bit too.”
