Alessio Romagnoli is ready to put all the negative episodes behind him and commit his future to Lazio.

In recent months, the defender publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with the hierarchy over their broken promises regarding his long-awaited pay raise. Nevertheless, Maurizio Sarri’s arrival was an extra motive for the 30-year-old to remain at his beloved club. After all, the manager would like to build his backline around him once more.

How Lazio & Alessio Romagnoli Plan to Work Around the Transfer Ban

Moreover, the management, in the shape of sporting director Angelo Fabiani, had expressed their willingness to negotiate a new contract with Romagnoli. However, the two parties have been thwarted by the transfer ban imposed by COVISOC, which not only prevents the club from making new signings, but also from penning contract extensions.

And yet, we can confirm that Lazio and Romagnoli are planning to hold talks in the coming days. While they cannot officially sign a new contract at this stage, the two parties will try to reach an agreement over an extension, before ratifying it when the ban is lifted, potentially in January.

The former Milan captain has been defending the Biancocelesti colors since 2022. His current deal with Lazio is valid for another two years.
