Rumours of Fabio Paratici’s return to Tottenham Hotspur have dominated the headlines since the start of the week.
The Italian director is currently serving a sporting ban for the Prisma/capital gains case, which will expire in the summer. Daniel Levy has held talks with the 52-year-old about bringing him back to Spurs permanently. He is looking to hijack AC Milan’s move for Fabio Paratici and is willing to re-sign him almost two years after he left the role in April 2023.
Paratici is set to make a return to football following his 18-month suspension for financial irregularities during his time at Juventus. Besides wanting the Italian executive, Daniel Levy could soon be hunting for a new manager at White Hart Lane.
Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is reportedly the Spurs chairman’s primary target to replace Ange Postecoglou. Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Fulham’s Marco Silva are potential options should Tottenham decide to part ways with Ange Postecoglou. However, it looks like Paratici could aid his former club in appointing Xavi Hernandez, who has emerged as a new potential option to replace Ange.
Paratici has continued to advise the North Londoners as an external consultant and maintains a cordial relationship with Levy. And Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham thinks the experienced Italian could use his deep contacts in the field to set up a meeting with Xavi Hernandez.
“Xavi would be someone I would look to contact,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.
“If Spurs have any sort of ambition, that is the calibre of manager we should be going after. I understand you need the contacts to help make it happen.
“However, Paratici managed to attract Antonio Conte, which didn’t seem possible at the time. I’m sure he could help Tottenham get a meeting with Xavi.
“Look at what Xavi did with Barcelona, with so many restrictions against him. It was incredible. He brought through a lot of young players and gave the likes of Lamine Yamal a platform to perform. Therefore, he is someone I’d be asking the question of.”
Paratici was responsible for signing the likes of Cristian Romero, Pedro Porro, Rodrigo Bentancur, Destiny Udogie and Dejan Kulusevski, as well as appointing Antonio Conte, with whom he had worked at Juventus before. He has deep contacts in the game, and despite not being hired officially, the 52-year-old can certainly arrange a meeting for Tottenham with Xavi.
Xavi is currently out of work since leaving Barcelona last year. He did quite a good job at Barcelona, guiding them to the La Liga title, promoting youth and employing an eye-catching, aggressive brand of football. Tottenham’s strategy in recent years have been youth-oriented, so a manager like Xavi would be a wonderful appointment.
As the Spaniard is currently unemployed, Spurs will not require any compensation to pay as well. So, the Lilywhites could decide to go for Xavi if they part ways with Ange.
