Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma has been linked with a move away from Hotspur Way this summer as his inconsistencies in the middle of the park at N17 have finally caught up to him. But amid links with a probable exit, his £17 million price tag is said to be causing hesitation.
Turkish giants Fenerbahce had initially been pushing to bring the midfielder to Turkey, and they were even preparing a £13m bid to secure his signature, but the North Londoners are holding to a valuation which has reportedly brought talks to a sudden halt, and the Turkish side are said to have now “stepped on the brakes”, according to a latest report by Fanatik, after they were told that it will take around €20m to attain his signature. This is around £17m, and Fener are definitely not going to grab him at this price, at least not yet.
The former Brighton midfielder featured in 44 games for the Lilywhites in the previous campaign, and he does still have plenty to offer, but then if you see the fact that his contract at Hotspur Way runs out in 2026 with no extension in sight, Tottenham run the risk of losing him for free next summer. And that is why the Lilywhites are holding firm on the valuation.
But if Tottenham don’t get a decent offer this window, Daniel Levy & Co. run the risk of losing him for nothing in 12 months’ time.
Fener have cooled down interest in Bissouma now, but this does not in any way mean that they are not going to come back in for him. At the moment they are trying to secure a deal for former Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka as a potential alternative and are said to also have even met with his representatives.
But that being said, they are still keeping “communication lines open” with Tottenham in case Daniel Levy decides to soften up his stance.
Alongside Fenerbahce, Serie A giants Juventus are also interested in his signatures and are hoping that their strong relationship with Levy and Paratici can help grease the wheels for possible signatures.
One way or another, I am thinking that Tottenham will try to freshen up their midfield, and Yves Bissouma will possibly be the first person to depart in the ongoing window.
