France keeping manager Didier Deschamps despite early Euro 2020 exit

As Jenna West noted for Sports Illustrated, France men's national team coach Didier Deschamps made history in the summer of 2018 when he became only the third man to win the World Cup as both a player and manager.

It appears Deschamps will be given an opportunity to defend that title.

ESPN reported Thursday afternoon that French Football Federation president Noel Le Graet is keeping Deschamps in charge of France and said the decision came after "three minutes" of talks. There were understandable questions about Deschamps' future after France, widely seen as one of the favorites to win this year's UEFA European Championship, were shockingly bounced from the tournament by Switzerland in the round of 16.

As things currently stand, Deschamps is in charge of "Les Bleus" through next year's World Cup in Qatar. French legend and former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is available after leaving the Spanish giants a second time in May and is a rumored replacement for Deschamps if France stumble on the world's biggest stage in 2022.
