Paul Robinson has tipped Harry Winks to join Leeds United because the Englishman fits the system at Elland Road.

Winks has been out of the first-team picture at Tottenham over the last 12 months and it remains unclear if he would be relevant under a new manager.

The England midfielder faces competition from some fine midfield options at Spurs and he might have to leave the North London side to get more playing time.

He wouldn’t fit into the system at every club, but former Tottenham number one, Robinson is certain that he would fit into Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United.

He says Winks is a favourite of his and praised the England international for his versatility in midfield which he says will make him useful at the Yorkshire side.

He even compared Winks to the new England international, Kalvin Phillips and says whichever club signs him would be signing a top player.

“I’m a big fan of Harry Winks,” he told Football Insider.

“I think he’s a fabulous player. He is versatile and can play anywhere across the midfield.

“I maintain that I would love to see him at Leeds. He would be the perfect signing because he can play in the Kalvin Phillips role as well as further forward. He fits the system.

“Let’s not forget that he has been linked with Manchester City as well. Whoever gets Harry Winks this year will be getting a very strong addition to their squad.

“Spurs would be naive to let him go. He is so versatile and brings a lot to the team. Maybe it is the player that wants to go but I think Spurs would be short-sighted and naive to let him go this summer.”
