Manchester United duo nominated for PFA award

Manchester United have quietly begun carving out their best spell since last season’s turmoil, picking up three league wins in October and looking like a side rediscovering identity and intensity.

The squad now boasts both exciting new signings and emerging homegrown talent, with the backbone of the team showing far greater consistency under manager Ruben Amorim this season.

United’s defence has tightened up, chances are being created with greater frequency and the forwards are beginning to convert reliably.

The club’s culture shift, from frustration and instability to hope and clarity, is becoming tangible with each passing week.

With the calendar turning into November, the club’s faithful are daring to dream again, and two of their players have caught the wider Premier League’s attention.

In fact, two members of the United squad have just been nominated for the PFA Premier League Fans’ Player of the Month award for October: goalkeeper Senne Lammens and forward Bryan Mbeumo, as reported by the PFA via their Instagram page.

Lammens, newly arrived from Belgium, has been heralded for his commanding presence, athletic shot‑stopping and composure under pressure.

He stood out in the Belgian Pro League with exceptional stats, including facing a high volume of expected goals (xG) and preventing far more goals than expected, before United secured his signing for around £18.2 million.

Meanwhile Bryan Mbeumo, fresh from his move into United colours, has hit the ground running: he has made 10 Premier League appearances this season, scoring four goals and contributing one assist thus far.

The significance of these nominations cannot be understated in the context of United’s current project.

Lammens’ inclusion shows that United’s re‑investment in defence and goalkeeping is being recognised externally.

His statistics from his previous club demonstrated his potential: for example, he faced shots worth 45 expected goals and conceded only 32 in one season, meaning he prevented 13 more than anticipated.

On the other hand, Mbeumo’s attacking production is precisely what United have been lacking: a forward consistently chipping in with goals, assists and momentum during a crucial build‑phase.

Mbeumo also won the Premier League Player of the Month for October 2025.

What makes this even more compelling is the way the duo represent both ends of the pitch: Lammens at the back enhancing security, Mbeumo up front delivering excitement.

Their nominations underline the fact that United are trending in the right direction, not just domestically but in terms of individual recognition.

If either (or both) were to win the Fans’ Player of the Month, it would mark the first such month‑end accolade for United in a while, a sign of the club’s upward trajectory.

United fans should now hope that these nominations translate into sustained performance.

Lammens must now stake his claim as the regular between the sticks and prove his Belgian‑league brilliance transfers to the Premier League.

Mbeumo, meanwhile, must maintain his goal involvement rate and properly adapt to his new club environment.

Should they both do so, United’s October surge may prove the foundation of a significant season.
