Manchester United completed the loan signing of Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich on transfer deadline day, but fans will have to wait another while before they see him make his debut for the club.

The central midfielder joins Manchester United until the end of the season. It became an emergency pursuit in the dying hours of the January transfer window as the Red Devils acted quickly to find a replacement for Christian Eriksen, who has been ruled out for three months with an ankle injury.

Sabitzer becomes United’s first Austrian player but he will not be available for selection tonight when Erik ten Hag’s side take on Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup semi-final. According to the official club website (ManUtd.com), the Bayern Munich midfielder is still completing his visa process.

Manchester United also confirmed that Sabitzer is eligible to play in the Europa League.

The Austria international is expected to watch the game in the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand this evening (kick-off 8pm).

Once the visa process is complete, Ten Hag will be the one who decides when Sabitzer makes his debut. He may have to rush him into the team due to injuries because Scott McTominay is another midfielder ruled out.

We are all intrigued to see who starts in the middle tonight, with United holding a three goal advantage over their opponents. Ten Hag could even start Kobbie Mainoo or Zidane Iqbal.
