Chelsea’s development squad head coach Andy Myers has been moved to a role as loan player technical coach, it was announced on the club’s official website today.

Former defender Myers had over 100 appearances for the Blues as a player, and has since been a vital cog in the club’s coaching setup.

He started his Chelsea coaching career with the under 15s, before moving up through the age groups to end up in charge of the development squad when Joe Edwards was promoted to assist Frank Lampard.

He lead that team to the Premier League 2 title in 2019/2020, although this season they really struggled, and only avoided relegation on the final day thanks to a pretty stunning comeback.

His new role will be assisting with the many players that Chelsea have on loan all around the world. The club add that a new head coach for the Development Squad will be announced “in due course.”
