As the winter transfer window is now already open, Paris Saint-Germain is aiming to come to terms with one of its coveted players for a new deal.

As noted by Telefoot‘s Julien Maynard, PSG has been in talks with forward Kylian Mbappe for a new contract extension deal.

Unlike with Brazilian forward Neymar, PSG has centered its talks with Mbappe on a short-term deal. Neymar notably signed off on a four-year contract extension deal with PSG club officials last year.

RMC Sport further notes that PSG has engaged in discussions with Mbappe on a new deal similar to the offer that it made to him last August, which would have then made him the highest-paid player on the team.

Mbappe is still currently set to become a free agent at the end of the season. The French forward had an eye on a move to La Liga side Real Madrid over the recent summer transfer window, but in the end, PSG stayed firm in its aim to keep him at the club.

For now, PSG is set for a key home Ligue 1 fixture against Brest.
