Tottenham ace backs under-fire Ange Postecoglou; reaffirms positive outlook

There have been ample questions asked about Ange Postecoglou’s credentials at White Hart Lane given how Tottenham Hotspur has been performing in the ongoing 2024/25 campaign, and as the pressure on Australian head coach continues to mount, Dominic Solanke has come in support of his boss for the ‘unique’ brand of football that has been deployed at N17.

We have seen the Lilywhites have a number of defensive minded managers and the supporters expressed their frustration with lack of exciting brand of football before Postecoglou was brought in by Levy. And the fans didn’t take long to back and support the Greece-born coach for his all out attack style of play.

However, that has proved to be a problem for Spurs given how they have been playing some underwhelming football this season and how teams have found it easy to break through their back line and find a way to get clear opportunities.

But Tottenham’s £65m summer signing, Dominic Solanke, has come out full of praise for the head coach for the way he sets his team up. Most of the strikers love it when the ball is more in the attacking phase of the game, and Big Dom is no stranger.

Speaking in an interview with The Independent, the former Bournemouth striker said:

“Ange is very unique in the way he plays, and we love it. The way he plays, it suits us.

“It is a great style, especially for me being a striker to play in. Like I said, we haven’t been consistent enough this season. We’ve just come off not the greatest run, but I feel we’re building towards that consistency.”

Despite all the external pressure, Solanke’s comments show that the players are bought into Postecoglou’s vision at the moment; however, for his project to be truly successful, results will need to follow.

Ange will need to find a balance of defensive stability with his offensive philosophy to have an opportunity to compete at the top in the English top tier.
