It’s 4:00am in 1976. A young Sly Stallone drags himself out of bed, cracks four raw eggs into a glass, gulps ‘em down, and trudges up the stairs of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Cue the theme song.

A lot’s changed since Rocky. Particularly, when it comes to the world of pre-workouts and athletic supplements, the raw egg industry has been edged out by a mega-market, valued in the hundreds of billions, of powders, protein bars, gels, tinctures, gummies, and pretty much every other presentation and method of consumption imaginable.

Even surfers, these days, are incorporating supplements, and Rocky-esque workouts, into their routines. Some products are even slapped on their boards as sponsors. But where to start amidst the wellness revolution? With so much market saturation, a trip to your local GNC can be an exercise in itself – heart pounding even before the synthetic compounds hit your bloodstream.

Enter Zoard Janko, the mystery man behind the lens of Nathan Florence’s ongoing, uber-entertaining, slab-slaying YouTube channel. When he’s not hopping on planes with Nate, scouring the globe for ungodly shallow tubes, or hopping out of planes as a recreational skydiver, the Hungarian-born videographer was spending the last seven months developing a line of creatine monohydrate chewables called, Super Gummies.

And Zoard sent us the goods to test; here’s what we found:

Taste

“Rizz,” for anyone born before the latest millennium, is a term the kids use to describe charisma or charm or je ne sais quoi in carrying oneself in flirty situations. Think: swagger.

For my trial, I tested the Lemon Rizz flavor of Super Gummies. And while I didn’t notice a newfound confidence in chatting up potential suitors while consuming the gummies, the taste was a perceptible change from other creatine-based supplements.

They’re not chalky, or gritty, or chemical-y. They taste like candy, like a squishy, less sour Lemonhead. And perhaps that’s dangerous. While the suggested dosage is three-to-five gummies a day, I could easily see myself chomping down double that…and risking cardiac arrest.

So, yeah, they taste pretty damn good.

Performance

Despite years of taking creatine as a pre-workout supplement, I never really knew what it was or what it was supposed to do. Something to do with energy. Maybe muscle recovery. A grogginess aide for those early morning workouts or dawn patrol surf sessions.

“Creatine helps replenish ATP (adenosine triphosphate) in muscles, providing quick energy during intense activities, promoting muscle strength, and improving recovery times,” Zoard explained to me. “In the brain, creatine may support cognitive function and energy metabolism, potentially enhancing memory and mental performance.”

Little did I know. Was I bursting with energy after consuming Super Gummies? Eh. Did my memory evolve from that of a goldfish to an elephant? Tough to say. But from a psychosomatic standpoint, I certainly tricked myself into thinking the gummies were helping in these departments. And maybe that’s all that matters.

Testimonials

“I implemented Super Gummies into my diet, love the benefits of creatine and love the taste of the gummies.” – Nathan Florence

“These gummies have made taking Creatine everyday something I look forward to. They taste great and the benefits come in handy after surfing for hours and coming home to take care of the family.” – Kolohe Andino

Cop or drop?

Let’s face it – no gummy is going to help you charge slabs like Nate, or surgically dissect a long Lowers wall like Kolohe. But, in this era of health and supplements and biohacking and age-reversing miracle serums, it makes sense to add one into your routine that’s backed by professionals, doesn't make a mess, and doesn’t taste like dirt.

Zoard: “If you want the most convenient way to get your daily dose of creatine in the best tasting gummies with none of that dry grittiness and that actually contains creatine in them, give Super Gummies a try!”
