From Griffin Colapinto to Caroline Marks, San Clemente-based shaper Matt Biolos and his top-flight team at ...Lost Surfboards continues to put world-class surfboards under the feet of world-class surfers. And that's not just hype. This fall, Biolos won the WSL's Vissla Shaper Rankings for the second straight year, meaning his boards are responsible for more heat wins on the Championship Tour than any other board builder out there. And to be honest, it wasn't even close.

A man of constant innovation and progress, Biolos and FCS have just released a new fin template to go with his extensive line of high-performance shapes. A larger fin made for powerful carving and quality waves, the fin features "a wide base, curved trailing edge and a tapered tip, this fin is primarily geared for performance power surfing," describes FCS.

"The bottom half of the fin produces exceptional power and drive, allowing surfers to push hard through turns while maintain a feeling of stability in critical situations," they continue. "The tip, which narrows significantly from halfway up the fin, offers the freedom and agility to turn abruptly with confidence."

"It's template's got a solid base with lots of rake and a pulled back tip with a pivot point," confirms Biolos in the newly released promo video.

An update on Biolos' earlier fin design with FCS, this new iteration was updated to put the focus on blending drive, power and release, allowing the surfer to really open up on open-faced waves with more push. The fin also pairs well with high-rocker boards, which tend to come out in more quality conditions.

The fin, which lands in the "carver" family, is made with PC AirCore construction, which purportedly offers a stiffer flex, allowing the surfer to meet power with power in solid surf. The fin set is available as both a thruster and quad. Retail price is $185.

The new design is billed as "a serious-looking fin for surfers who take their surfing seriously. A no-nonsense performance fin you can use in any of the high-performance Mayhem models."

With wintertime knocking on the door, it could exactly the right time to upgrade your fins. The only catch? These babies are available exclusively through FCS, so pick your fin boxes accordingly.
