Andy Murray has responded to an article from BBC Sport that suggested he could be nearing the end of his 19-year professional career.

Murray continued his poor run of form on Monday in Montpellier, being beaten by Frenchman Benoit Paire at the ATP 250 event.

This was Paire's first main tour win since 2022, as he fought back after losing the opening set.

Following Murray's defeat at the indoor hard court event, this prompted BBC Sport to release the aforementioned article that doubted the former No.1's future in the sport.

However, Murray did not seem to take too kindly to some of the comments and subsequently responded on social media, "Tarnishing my legacy? Do me a favour. I'm in a terrible moment right now, I'll give you that.

"Most people would quit and give up in my situation right now. But I'm not most people and my mind works differently. I won't quit. I will keep fighting and working to produce the performances I know I'm capable of."

It was not just the 36-year-old who responded to this, with a member of his team in Jonny O'Mara also calling for people to watch Murray's 2019 documentary, Resurfacing, about his comeback from hip surgery.

Murray will continue to search for form next week at another French indoor hard court tournament in Marseille.

The world No.49 will then head to the Middle East, where he will play tournaments in Doha and Dubai.
