Britain's Johanna Konta to miss Olympics after testing positive for COVID-19

British No. 1 Johanna Konta was forced to withdraw from Wimbledon ahead of the tournament after a member of her team tested positive for COVID-19. The 30-year-old's summer isn't vastly improving as of the halfway point of July.

On Tuesday, Konta confirmed via Twitter that she won't play in the upcoming Summer Olympics in Tokyo after she developed symptoms and ultimately tested positive for the coronavirus, which left her unable to adequately train.

Earlier in the day, men's all-time great Roger Federer announced he won't compete in the Olympics due to suffering a setback with his surgically repaired knee during the grass court season. Federer fell to Hubert Hurkacz in the quarterfinal round of Wimbledon last week.

As Sky Sports notes, Serena Williams, Rafael Nadal, Simona Halep and Dominic Thiem are among other tennis stars who are skipping or missing the Olympics. Per Kathleen McNamee of ESPN, Novak Djokovic said after his Wimbledon championship win on Sunday that he isn't sure if he'll play in Tokyo.
