Wimbledon punish feuding duo
Stefanos Tsitsipas has been handed the joint-biggest fine in Wimbledon history after his fiery clash with Nick Kyrgios.
Tsitsipas was lucky to escape a default when he hit a ball into the the crowd after losing the second set to Kyrgios in the third round.
Kyrgios said afterwards that he would be ‘interested to see what fine Tsitsipas received’ for the offence, and now her knows.
The Greek has been fined $10,000US for the incident, which is around £8,260.
Kyrgios himself hasn’t got away without his pocket getting hit either, by the way.
He has landed a $4,000US (£3,000) for audible obscenities.
Carlos Alcaraz shows his class
Anyone who watched the brilliant match between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will know that tennis’ future is in great hands.
The two youngsters played out four sets of outstanding tennis at Wimbledon before Sinner eventually booked himself a spot in the quarter-finals.
“Jannik was the better player and he deserves it,” Alcaraz said on social media.
“Good luck for the rest of the tournament! I’ll return home excited to work to improve and enjoy many more moments like this!”
We already can’t wait for their next match.
WTA ace not a fan of ‘serve-bots’
Heather Watson had her best ever Wimbledon this year, reaching the fourth round.
It came to an end on Centre Court, though, as Germany’s Jule Niemeier got the best of her 6-2, 6-4.
Watson was obviously disappointed to be out, but she sounded more annoyed at her opponents big serve.
“I felt like I was playing a serve-bot type thing,” Watson said afterwards.
“The points were just so quick. I was just trying to make as many returns as possible, holding on to my serve.
“It felt like more men’s tennis today than women’s.”
