The 2024 Indian Wells is facing a lot of serious hits as more and more players withdraw from the tournament due to either injury or illness. Day 4 in California saw two major players walk off the court due to an injury concern.

After Milos Raonic’s unexpected withdrawal due to an injury, women’s tennis followed suit. No. 11 seed Dayana Yastremska withdrew mid-match against Emma Raducanu due to an injury.

This matchup was also one highlight of the day, as the fans expected both experienced players to look for much-needed wins. The match between the two started well, as Raducanu took off to a flying start.

The Brit started the game with a double break, leading 4-0 in the first set. Just as she was getting ready for the next set, her opponent Yastremska took a medical timeout. The Ukrainian was seen struggling during the initial sets and soon had to withdraw.

With a heavy heart, Yastremska walked off mid-match, giving Raducanu a straight pass to the next round of the tournament. With this, the Brit advances to the third round in California and might face No. 2 seed Sabalenka for the spot in the fourth.

Emma Raducanu applauded an Injured Dayana Yastremska off the court, as she ended her second-round curse

The 2024 Indian Wells witnessed another player withdraw from their match due to an injury. It was the highly experienced Dayana Yastremska who looked in phenomenal touch at the Australian Open

One of the most anticipated matchups of the day had to be closed off in about 40 minutes as Yastremska had to walk off injured, giving Emma Raducanu a straight entry into the third round. The Brit was also saddened by the sudden walk-off, as she hugged her opponent and applauded her off the court.

Raducanu looked in great touch in those 40 minutes, winning all the games so far. With this win, she won her first second-round match of the season and ended the horrific curse. Four tournaments later, she finally got past the second round and made her way into the next round.

It only gets harder for the 21-year-old who might face a deadly Aryna Sabalenka in the next round. Another huge matchup for Raducanu, as her abilities are sure to be tested by Sabalenka.
