Former World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz has been praised by Nick Kyrgios, despite having had an increasingly rough time, both physically and mentally. The Spaniard suffered back-to-back upsets at the Grand Slams, first at the US Open semi-final, where he was defending champion, and at the Australian Open, where he had faced a quarter-final loss to Alexander Zverev.

However, Nick Kyrgios had a few counter-intuitive words to the Spaniard’s form. While Alcaraz had been a winning machine prior to the US Open, especially around Wimbledon, he did not seem human, according to Kyrgios.

For the first time, Alcaraz showed himself to be human, I had never seen him like this. Let's say he wasn't as incredible as he usually is. Credit must also be given to Zverev. He has made an incredible journey to get here and his tennis was impeccable. Krygios told Eurosport after commentating on Alcaraz’s defeat to Zverev.

According to Kyrgios, while Alcaraz was not even close to his best game, it was irrefutable that Zverev was playing better tennis. Kyrgios also felt that Alcaraz was nervous during the match and the German was incredibly confident.

Nick Kyrgios thinks Jannik Sinner could be the new Novak Djokovic

Jannik Sinner has been playing in a league of his own. The Italian has defeated Novak Djokovic three times out of their last four encounters. This is more special at a time when the Serb is considered to be almost unbeatable. This shows the level of tennis the young Italian is playing at the moment.

Highlighting this, Australian Nick Kyrgios had great words for Sinner. Kyrgios revealed that Sinner was always open to learn new things and get better. He also had high praise for the Italian’s coach, Darren Cahill.

Darren Cahill is a great coach, the changes that he's made in his game and the willingness for Jannik Sinner to give a try has now elevated him to the top of the sport

He had also made comparisons between Sinner and Djokovic.

After today, I definitely think that Sinner could be the new Novak. I mean, Alcaraz, obviously he had got that X factor maybe a little bit more flamboyant with his game style, but Sinner is solid.

Nevertheless, it is evident that the young Italian is definitely making a name for himself on the tour, among audiences as well as other players. Sinner is set to face Daniil Medvedev in the finals of the Australian Open on Sunday.
