Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov is eyeing his second title of this season at the Monte-Carlo Masters in Monaco, where he lives. After winning his first match, Dimitrov opened up about playing at home.

Dimitrov was born in Haskovo, Bulgaria, but currently lives in Monte Carlo. During an interaction with Tennis Channel, the 32-year-old spoke at length about home advantages, like getting enough sleep and having his mom around.

Think I just staying in my own bed. To be honest, I think in the past, the past four days, I mean, I think I've slept over eight hours every single night. And honestly, it's beautiful. Grigor Dimitrov told Tennis Channel

Dimitrov even called his time at home “golden”. However, due to lots of travel for different tournaments, he doesn’t get enough time to spend at home.

I have my mom around, and, and just it feels at home. It's as simple as that. I've been here for ten years now, and everything is so familiar. Grigor Dimitrov said

Grigor Dimitrov explains what he needs to do the most to dominate on clay courts

Grigor Dimitrov has found his lost form toward the end of 2023. Dimitrov has been displaying some strong performances this year, reaching three finals. And for the first time since 2018, Dimitrov is in the top 10 of the rankings.

His first title came earlier this year at the Brisbane International. The No. 9 then continued to dominate at the Open 13 tournament, reaching the final. Last week, his second failure in the final came at the Miami Open, as he easily lost to Jannik Sinner.

During the same interview with Tennis Channel, Dimitrov was asked about shifting his focus to clay after playing continuously on hard courts. He talked about the importance of small things and long practice sessions on clay courts but admitted that he lacks the time to practice more.

I think the most important thing is to stay injury-free. I think you need to do all the prevention exercises. And you have to do a lot of stretches and stop and go and come back and you might get caught. Grigor Dimitrov said

The Bulgarian defeated Valentin Vacheron in straight sets (7-5, 6-2) in the Round of 64 of the Monte-Carlo Masters. He will next play the winner of Miomir Kecmanovic and Matteo Berrettini.
