Novak Djokovic's father accuses Grigor Dimitrov of causing COVID-19 outbreak at Adria Tour

While many are blaming Novak Djokovic for the coronavirus outbreak at his charity tournament, the Adria Tour, his father is blaming someone else.

Srdjan Djokovic, who is a controversial figure after making unsportsmanlike statements, has accused Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov of causing the spike in coronavirus cases that has seen both Novak and his wife Jelena infected.

“How did the infection come about? Probably because Dimitrov came sick, who knows where,” Srdjan told broadcaster RTL. “He was not tested in Zadar, but somewhere else. I don’t think that’s right.”

Dimitrov was the first player to test positive for COVID-19 after the second leg of Djokovic's exhibition tournament that began in Serbia before moving on to Croatia amid the pandemic. Djokovic's event was criticized for not enforcing social distancing measures, having fans in attendance and allowing players to party together.

The Adria Tour, ultimately, ended up being a reckless event, and it's hard to blame Dimitrov for being diagnosed with the virus when no health and safety protocols were put in place for the protection of the players.

Croatia's Borna Coric and Serbian Viktor Troicki and his wife have also tested positive following the tournament.

The Tour has since been shut down, and Djokovic is quarantining for the next 14 days in Belgrade with his wife.
