WTA No. 1 Iga Swiatek has been the one to watch out for in any tournament. With her skills and power, the 22-year-old can pull out a quick bagel set at any moment. She did the same at the 2024 Madrid Open, giving her fans a moment to cherish.

Having been on a roll the entire season, Swiatek pulled her first bagel set in the tournament against Sara Sorribes Tormo, beating the Spaniard 6-1, 6-0. However, she did the same on a bigger stage. In the very next round, at the quarterfinals, the Pole pulled out another bagel set.

This time she was up against Beatriz Haddad-Maia, who had started the match with a huge lead in the first set. To make a comeback, Swiatek pulled up her socks and went all guns blazing in the second set. And to everyone’s surprise, she got another bagel set.

Rightly so, the Pole was all over the Brazilian in the last set, winning 4-6, 6-0, 6-2. With this win, Swiatek achieved a record. She is now undefeated with 63 wins, having won a set 6-0. She is also now tied with Coco Gauff to have notched up the most 6-0 sets (7 sets each).

Iga Swiatek inches closer to her first Mutua Madrid Open title after a dominant win over Beatriz Haddad Maia

The Polish star Iga Swiatek is known for her dominance on clay. However, the WTA No. 1 has never won a title at the Mutua Madrid Open. Currently, she is in dominant form and is a favorite to win this year.

With her latest win against Beatriz Haddad-Maia, Swiatek now advances one step further to the semi-finals. With the win, the Pole has achieved multiple milestones. Swiatek now equals Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova (29) to win 25 matches on clay.

Moreover, she also extended her H2H record to 3-1 against the Brazilian. Now, the Pole will face the winner of Ons Jabeur and Madison Keys.

On the other hand, there are still a few more quarter-final clashes yet to be played that will decide the last four remaining.

While Swiatek is on a quest to win her first Madrid title, defending champion Aryna Sabalenka shows no signs of slowing down and would hope to go all the way.
