Watch: Stefanos Tsitsipas invites Oscar-nominated actress to Australian Open

Stefanos Tsitsipas won his Australian Open quarterfinal on Tuesday and is now hoping that Oscar-nominated actress Margot Robbie will attend a future match of his.

Tsitsipas is the third-ranked player at this year's Grand Slam event and is the No. 4 men's player in the world. He defeated Jiri Lehecka in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 in the quarterfinals and is scheduled to play Karen Khachanov in the semifinals on Friday.

Despite having now made the Australian Open semifinals in three straight years and four out of the past five years, Tsitsipas has never won a major. The 24-year-old's best finish at a Grand Slam event was when he lost to Novak Djokovic in the 2021 French Open finals in five sets, despite winning the first two sets.

The 32-year-old Robbie -- a native of Dalby, Queensland, Australia -- has come up just short of the ultimate prize in her field of work over her career as well. Robbie was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress in the 2017 film "I, Tonya," and for Best Supporting Actress in "Bombshell," which came out in 2019.

There's no word yet as to whether Robbie has been notified of the informal invitation from Tsitsipas, but perhaps a victory in Friday's semifinals would increase the chances she shows up at a future match. If Tsitsipas defeats Khachanov, he would play in the Australian Open finals on Saturday.
