Russian player Anna Blinkova created history by defeating world number 3 Elena Rybakina in the second round of the 2024 Australian Open. In a match that will be remembered for days to come, Blinkova took out the Kazakh powerhouse in 3 sets with the longest tie-breaker ever in Grand Slam history.

Hailing from Russia, she was born on 10 September 1998. Ever since her childhood, she had a desire to become not just a professional tennis player but also a master in chess. She played both games at a very high level, but in the end, chose tennis as her career.

The moment she went pro in tennis, she could be seen as a rising star. She was 3rd in the world in junior tennis. The young Russian also went on to become the Wimbledon’s girl’s singles runner-up in 2015. That is the year she rose to heights in her sports.
