Arango was fifth seed in qualifying and eased through to the main draw and will relish the chance to move on.
Prediction: Cocciaretto in 3

Sara Errani vs Caty McNally

Head to Head: 2-0

Italian Errani dominates the head to head. Although the last meeting of the pair was a three set match, Errani still managed to come out on top. American McNally will hope this first round match can help her gain back on the higher ranked player. McNally will have to play very well to overcome the Italian
Prediction: Errani in 3

Nuria Parrizas-Diaz vs Anna Blinkova

Head to Head 1-0

Spaniard Parrizas-Diaz eased through to the second round and a match against third seed Blinkova. Although higher ranked, Blinkova actually lost the last time these too met. Madrid 2023 in the first round. The Spaniard dominated the match on her home soil. This should give Parrizas-Dias confidence against the seeded player. Blinkova though, will be hoping to replicate the first round, where she only lost 3 games over the entire match.
Prediction: Parrizas-Diaz in 2

Erika Andreeva vs Ana Bogdan

Head to Head: 0-1

Andreeva has already played three matches to get to this point, having come through the qualifying. Romanian Bogdan is the eighth seed and will be wanting to progress. The last meeting between these two ended with Bogdan dominating in a straight sets win. This will be more of the same and the Russian will struggle to keep pace
Prediction: Bogdan in 2

Arantxa Rus vs Alize Cornet

Head to Head: 0-2

Top seed Rus faces qualifier Cornet. The Dutch player is already out of the doubles, so will be desperate to move on in the singles. Cornet is also out of the doubles, but in the singles came through qualifying to hit the main draw. After a very close win against Wickmayer the French woman is looking to increase the head to head over Rus and knock out the top seed.
