The Transylvania Open in Cluj-Napoca enters Day 4 with five matches on the card. We have had some terrific matches at WTA Cluj-Napoca to begin the week, but who will make their way into the quarters? We at LWOT analyze these matches and deliver our predictions. But who do you think will advance?

WTA Cluj-Napoca Day 4 Predictions

Elisabetta Cocciaretto vs Harriet Dart

Head-to-Head: First Meeting

Harriet Dart recovered from a terrible start to the season with three consecutive losses to go on a terrific 3-match unbeaten run, but they’ve all been against lower-ranked players. Her Italian opponent is a different class, and she’ll have too much power to earn her first set of consecutive wins of the season.

Prediction: Cocciaretto in 2

Tatjana Maria vs Sara Errani

Head-to-Head: Maria 0 vs 4 Errani

Two 36-year-olds square up for a place in the WTA Cluj-Napoca quarterfinals, and if the head-to-head is anything to go by, then Sara Errani should be confident of going 5-0 up. However, she doesn’t look like she’s found her rhythm yet, and Maria will be determined to get one over her before she drops her racket.

Prediction: Maria in 3

Karolina Pliskova vs Camila Osorio

Head-to-Head: First Meeting

Camila Osorio has been improving with each match this season. She finally secured a much-deserved win over Viktoriya Tomova in the previous round. Pliskova, on the other hand, struggled to get past Sinja Kraus on the back of a three-match winless run. This could go either way, but I’ll back the Colombian who’s shown more grit and consistency

Prediction: Osorio in 3

Elina Avanesyan vs Anatasija Sevastova

Head-to-Head: Tirante 1 vs 1 Comesana

Anatasija Sevastova continues to brilliantly ease herself back into the game after a lengthy layoff with a dominant straight-sets win over home favorite Andreea Mitu. She has taken at least a set in all seven matches she’s played since her return in November, winning five of them. Her Russian opponent is also playing well, having won over half of her matches in 2024, including a superb straight-sets win over Maria Sakkari in Melbourne. This will be closely contested, but expect the Latvian to rely on her experience to extend her winning return at WTA Cluj-Napoca.

Prediction: Sevastova in 3

Clara Tauson vs Jaqueline Cristian

Head-to-Head: Tauson 3 vs 2 Cristian

Both players are closely ranked, and there’s not much to separate them. Tauson, however, has played more consistently this year, winning at least a set in all the matches but one. Add the pressure her opponent will face playing in front of her home fans, and the Dane should edge this to dash Cristian’s hopes of a quarterfinal spot.

Prediction: Tauson in 2
